Thats why the only way I won was by using mimic and being hyper agressive spamming heavy jump attacks with a bleed weapon and hoping I get a her into a rhythm where me and the mimic force her into a loop of staggers, bleeds procs, and criticals so she never has time to do waterfowl. Radahn was an easy boss. He was like the 3rd boss I beat, obviously I didn't have the mimic tear. I did summon Alexander, Blaidd, Topps and such. It only took me like 3 trues on my first playthrough.
Melenia is the hardest bost next to consort Radahn.
I have not played Dark Souls. When I learned about it I decided not because in the end the choice in dark souls is kill yourself and "save the world", more like delay the inevitable, or keep living as a quasi-dead guy and doom the world.

Well, no damage runs do exist and it is a different challenge from just beating the game on hard. The issue is that people somehow concluded that high difficulty is the primary design principle behind Souls, which it isn't. From always had mechanics that allowed you to modify it according to your preference. You can use heavy armor or you can go in naked. You can level up or you can beat the game on soul level 1. You can use magic or just melee (with or without a shield). But these are all different modes of playing the game with varying level of challenge.

If Miyazaki himself is involved as loremaster for the script, the film could have a chance of being a decent accompaniment to ER. A literal adaptation of Elden Ring would suck because as is usual for souls games, all the compelling stories and information are secreted away in the history and background of the setting, rather than the player's own journey. Although it does far more in that scope with its living NPC characters that's genuinely meaningful and evocative, admittedly.
With that in mind, the Elden Ring film is a perfect opportunity to expand on the setting and clarify mysteries, rather than simply translate what's already been said into film.
Assuming a LOTR-length trilogy:
The fist film should have Godfrey as the Protag, depicting him as a highlander set amidst the Hornsent and Marika's ascent to divinity amidst the burgeoning threat of the surrounding giants territories, the seduction and betrayal with the Divine Gate etc. Settle The Gloam Eyed Queen mystery. And finally the war against the giants. Throw in a few asides with the Ancient Dragons, who would have probably been like gods in that era.
The second film should capture Godwyn's crusade against and ultimate affiliation with the Dragons in the Erdtree's golden era, Radagon and his golden host, and the War against the Carians. The Banishment of the Nox and Astel.
The third film should be the night of the black knives and Marika shattering the Elden Ring, and the demigod contest for power and martialling of their various factions, with a thirty minute extended scene showing Rykard transforming into a grotesque snake god.

I think its just a lack of experience with actual game development. Where they assume that everything in a game was placed there for a complex reason and that artists are at all times channeling the game's lore bible and trying to teach the player something.
The reality that most environmental decoration and assets were just put together because they looked good, didn't kill FPS, and they filled in empty space while not totally violating the general vibe of the game area.
This is something they're ignorant of because they have a very enchanted view of games development.

I made that Godefroy shitpost and I think Elden Ring's lore and cosmology is actually reasonably well elucidated upon in-game by anyone looking for a coherent timeline of events, it's just that people want more answers to things that are deliberately obfuscated so as to reinforce the mythic nature of the game's setting. Naturally the end result of this is overzealous fans scrying for answers from even the loosest threads like mad historians.
The Dark Souls setting was vastly smaller in scope, drawing from a simple Olympian-style narrative cosmogenesis of the world and its aspects culminating in Lordran and a mostly unseen living world beyond.
Elden Ring's is purposefully more obscure because as opposed to Gwyn, Marika, the central and driving deific figure in the setting, has an actual humanistic origin and history amidst a sprawling setting that features relatively more mundane civilisations and not the heavenly Mount Olympus analogue in Dark Souls.
Did Gwyn's personality and foibles even become majorly apparent before the Ringed City? I can't remember.
