I've only worked in grocery store. Employee->shift lead->dept lead->manager. In the same store no less. It sucks btw, my only dream is to somehow jump over to corporate, despite earning less. At least I don't have to deal with staffing.

I worked back stock at american apparel. Best fucking job ever. I just smoked weed and then folded clothes, didnt deal with customers, I was surrounded by hot chicks dressed like whores. Only shitty part was I would show up to work for a shift that was like from 16:00 to 22:00 and they would be like, uhhh yeah can you stay until 5am tonight, we need to do inventory. That was common there.
