For me, it's Darkness Falls.
overrated episode I'm afraid

>>211650079I hated this episode and the Owne Wilson Vampire one so much as a kid. As an adult I like them and add them to my before bed playlist.
As of right now, I am officially reopening the X-Files.
>>211648663 (OP)the only scene, that redeems that episode is a reluctant scully singing a thin aired lullaby and a mouthy, moody mulder.
if you want a natures monster take "field trip".

>>211648663 (OP)Scully:
>the corpse was male*Mulder looks down at the crotch*
>barely Why did Mulder have to insult the dead guys dick? It is a difficult episode to re-watch as an Indian man.
>>211651010>it's off-tone from the rest of the show in the worst way possibleI wish. After Darin Morgan left they kept trying to make funny episodes, more and more as the show went on. By the time you get up to season 9, it's like 50% soap opera mytharc shit, 50% """comedy""" episodes, and it never works. You need a Darin Morgan to make it work. IMO Jose Chung's was pretty good (I love the implications of the line "you mean Lord Kimboat"?) , but its consequences were dire. I wish they'd just stuck to the straight and narrow and kept doing nothing but serious, stand alone episodes like Darkness Falls and The Host.
>>211651859It annoys me too. They should have saved these scripts for Millennium. They tried to save it too by having him morph into the devil in a few scenes, but in the end he's just a serial killer.

>>211648663 (OP)That is the worst episode. I'm not a dude who normally bitches about so-called plot holes, but these intelligent people are in the middle of a FOREST and they need LIGHT and nobody thinks of building a FIRE??? And then nothing they actually did matters because they just randomly don't die and get rescued anyways.
Anyways I like the episode with the murder sextuplets or whatever.
>>211657621Eve(I'm guessing is the episode you're referring to) was fucking kino
>>211657714That's the one.
I love most of season 1, I think it got the mix between campy and creepy really well before the mytharc stuff started to become more prominent.
>>211657902Shows like this are best when the mystery is strongest. The main storyline is less interesting when more is revealed.
I feel the same way about Supernatural.
>>211652649The dude was completely dehydrated. That's the reason for the penis comment.

>>211648663 (OP)Hey op are you a bot because Iโm the only one that ever talks about that episode in xfiles threads and yet, I didnโt make this one. Why is it your favorite? Because they should have died? Respond.

>>211658568i've rewatched the mytharc more times than i can count and i maintain that it's pretty good up until the weird kritschgau stuff, it made no sense that mulder would believe a complete stranger and they really drag out the "mulder is a skeptic now" thing
i like mulder best when he's incorruptible
>>211650079Soft disclosure that UFOs and says are a giant psyop and coverup for glowing shenanigans but there are entities like Lord Kinbote that are beyond our understanding.
The best thing about the X-files was the monster of the week plots and the IDEA that Mulder was delusional and Scully was actually right. When they leaned into the main plot of Mulder being right and the government conspiracy was that aliens were here all along the show fell off. That's why Paper Hearts in S4 was so good.
>>211650079weak reddit pick
why does reddit think monster of the week is good?
>>211662417The data doesn't support your assertion.
>>211662582>uses reddit as an insult>is a redditorMany such cases.
I wish it was on HBO so they could have went hog wild with more stuff like Home.
>>211662688the image is from imdb
>>211661552I like any episode where the characters are trapped somewhere remote, and it has peak S1 rainy forest atmosphere. Simple as.
>>211650588As of right now, I am officially reopening the N-Files.
>in remote wooded town
>no cellphones, land lines only
>thunderstorm
>"the phones are out!"
>music sting
oh yeah, it's kino time
>>211648663 (OP)Some of my most rewatched are humorous MOTWs:
>Humbug>Bad Blood>Je SouhaiteFor serious episodes, the tops are:
>Die Hand Die Verletzt>Sanguinarium>The Pine Bluff Variant>TheefPlus the various episodes with Tooms and Pusher. Maybe also "Fire" from S1.
Oddly enough, none of these faves have anything to do with aliens. I like the alien conspiracy in the background but I have surprisingly little interest in the "overarching mythology" itself.... especially since in hindsight we all know what an embarrassing shitshow that turned out to be, even before the alleged "revival" cringefest.
The reason people get tripped up with HURR DURR MYTH ARC GOOD/BAD is that the myth arc is HALF good and half dumb, but it's not divided by season. It's like, GREAT MYTH ARC EPISODE, terrible myth arc episode, repeat.
One of my favorite things from my last rewatch is this musical cue they do of that distant industrial pipe clanking noise whenever Mulder stumbles on another clue and you suddenly realize it's a myth episode. Total audiokino. The Scully abduction stuff is great too (why do so many people forget that for a big chunk of this show's top seasons, the sides flipflopped and Scully became the true believer and Mulder was demoralized thinking it was all a government hoax?)
>>211648663 (OP)For me, it's Syzygy. None of the stills do the episode any justice, truly a great bit of weird media.
>>211664808Pretty cringy episode
>>211655982it's the best one, it can't be topped
>>211654539I feel you. If you ask me, Darin Morgan's 4 episodes are among the very best the show had to offer (with Jose Chung and Clyde Bruckman being at the very top of the pile), but he made the show change for the worse, because everyone wanted to take a shot at making their own comedic episodes. Vince Gilligan went from writing stuff like Pusher, Unruhe and Paper Hearts, to being the new guy in charge of the funny/lighthearted episodes. Chris Carter's attempts at comedic episodes were always gimmicky.
Scully: I'm going to need more to go off if you want me to believe in something so outlandish, btw I'm a clone or something
>Look Scully right there, a UFO spacecraft lifting off out from under the ice. Quick open your eyes, Scully wake up! Indisputable evidence *shakes* wake from your slumber, no more need to be a sceptic
Scully: -SNOOOZE-
>Moulder squints in disappointment, as he observes the UFO propel into the sky out of view
Scully: You just don't have any evidence, btw i was abducted by the government as a child and injected
>>211651010You're trying way too hard to fit in.
>>211655982Probably my favourite, but it pretty much made Scully immortal so kind of ruined any "life threatening" situations she ended up in later.
I wonder if they'll have new agents or just reboot Scully and Mulder for the new show
I like Night of the Coprophages
>>211666879This really sums up the entire show
>>211666155>>211667362It doesn't. Why are there SO many people who didn't watch the X-Files in these threads?
Scully literally believes in aliens for longer than Mulder does.
>>211667441Whatever retard, I was on drugs the entire way through and even I distinctly remember Scully permanently undermining, questioning & pushing back on Moulders belief in aliens.
>>211648663 (OP)For me it's Beyond the Sea

>>211648663 (OP)Blood is the best episode. Soon after that I stopped watching.
>>211648663 (OP)Is that the green bug one? That scarred me mate. Invisible bugs are crawling all over and will suck my precious bodily fluids AAAAAAH
>>211657621> FOREST and they need LIGHT and nobody thinks of building a FIREAh yes the pacific north west known for its dry and easily lit tinder and wood.
>>211662655>can't get to the boy because of the lights>just screams bloody murder all night as she clings to the ceiling and peeks in on himthat bathroom scene in the intro is absolutely fucked. the whole opening sequence is amazing - maybe one of the best in horror movie history
How is William B Davis still alive? He looked like he was 80 when the show was airing.
>>211648663 (OP)i really liked triangle, creating the parallel universe, a little bit of a love story and vintage dressing, though the lighting looks like they filmed under the blanket. but then again, its a ghost ship
I really liked the ep with Bryan Cranston.
>>211672418Well he's got those old man spots now so he'll be going to the great saucer in the sky soon
>>211664984I think you're mistaking it for First Person Shooter
>>211672418I watched him in some SYFY dragon movie ten years ago, and wondered how he was still going then.
>>211648663 (OP)For me, it's D.P.O
Anyone else feel like every episode focused on Christianity fell flat?
the attempt to mix Christianity being real with a world where all these weird sci fi elements were real feels awkward
Every time they uncharacteristically make Mulder into some hyper skeptic just for the sake of the plot, while scully suddenly believes it, also against character, just because sheโs Christian it doesnโt make sense sheโd really be that up to believing a demon is killing girls because theyโre nephilim lol
Finally all of the stories are just badly written compared to average episodes from what I remember
>>211679561I always understood Scully as a secrety sensitive character, that is very skilled, has reverence but applies order. her faith is the backdrop, her connection to her father (who gifted her the cross necklace) and her ability to keep the line between supernatural and earthy matters.
Is it Detour with the camoflauge wendigo? I liked that one. Same for Supernatural, the wendigo was episode for me.
>>211663053Why did Mitch Pileggi not get more roles after xfiles?
He's a kino machine and instantly improved every episode he's in
>>211663914They needed to end it cleanly at season 4 (which it nearly was) and start a new arc.
Dragging it out past then is what ruins the earlier ones.
>>211680742I feel like they actually blew their load at the end of S1 and it forced the overarching storyline into a series of repetitions.
Like Scully lifts up an ayy embyro with her bare hands and witnesses someone getting killed over it, then in LGM Mulder has a crisis of faith? After he saw all those bodies in tanks?
Might have been better for the show's health in the long run if actual literal ayys were used more sparingly
>>211662630As of right now I'm shutting down the you-files.
>>211663063name 3 episodes (for me)
>>211672418it always freaked me out that he looked a lot like my dad
For me it's Small Potatoes
WHY on earth is so lewd still?
I liked the one with the Chinese shape-shifting doggo
Where my Arcadiachads at?

This episode is is exactly how I imagine living in 90s USA
t. Born 1990 not in USA
whats the episode with the lone gunmen where they are at a conference and trying to uncover some secrets there with their nerd buddies
>>211683943>drive>big guy>little feetPredictive programming for /tv/.
>ctrl+f
>only one mention of The Host
fucking plebs
>>211682932>Sneed PotatoesIt's hilarious that Darin Morgan played Eddie Van Blundht
>>211664954This episode always stood out to me because Mulder was the real savage jerk towards Scully and there was no real explanation why.
This is random episode where they decided that Mulder is going to humiliate Scully verbally.
Didnt help that this episode came right after an episode where they teased closer relationships between two and that was sweet episode.
>>211648663 (OP)Are you hyped for the black reboot?
>>211648663 (OP)When the series finale was airing my high school gf called me to say her parents weren't home. I never finished the episode and haven't seen the show since.
>>211687834>where did all the black fathers go? did aliens abduct them?>the mystery of the chirps in the hallway>a secret society oppressing blacks called Per Capitaso much material for kino
The name's Bambi, federal agent researching cock ..roaches
>>211689565>...her name is Bambi?
I'm in season 9 right now. What a mess.
>>211680658He looks like a violent alcoholic
>>211679561I like those episodes. But I favor Millennium over the X-Files, which delved more regularly into such matters as part of its core identity. They're in the same universe. What they should have done is create a third companion series that unify all the alien stuff with the theology stuff. A third perspective wherein it's revealed to be two sides of the same coin. This kinda stuff is popular nowadays, ppl pointing out similarities between ufology and demonology or whatever, all kinds of myths and tales. And the uncovering of mysterious ancient civilizations would figure verrry heavily into this hypothetical third series. Core characters as archaeologists... always digging for the truth! The Truth is Down There. The show writes itself if you watch lots of "conspiracy" theory videos.
>>211691960Wasn't that was the lone gunmen were supposed to be?
>>211692055No. It's nothing like what I'm describing, what I'm picturing.
