Was it simply too smart for the modern audience?

I watched this recently and I think it's confusing because
1) you can't hear half the shit they say
2) the characters behave as if they're just being refreshed. They never ponder on whatever is spoken. So it always feels like you've joined a conversation midway through

Movie would've been 11/10 if Pattinson was the main character and it leaned heavily into the Oedipal thing.

Complexity ≠ greatness the movie

That's every action movie nowadays. Just turn on subtitles.

I was shocked by how everyone I know were so confused by the movie. It's pretty basic time travel shit. Most people truly are morons. But no, it's not particularly great. Nolan going full coldly autistic, there's not much in the way of characters or story to latch onto.

I've seen it maybe four times now? I've enjoyed it slightly more each time, finding more things to appreciate about it. I have my complaints though.
