It was always planned as a trilogy, but they weren't sure how successful the first would be. The sequels were fantastic and fleshed out the story a ton. It's one of the top trilogies of all time. I'm sorry you're finding it hard to cope with that and seething so much that others like something you don't.

It would've been better if there weren't only a few Matrix films. I like the idea of seeing different aspects of the world, it was what made the one with all the shorts good. But as it is Reloaded and Revolutions just feel perfunctory. It gets all heady and philosophical but you don't feel like you've seen anything you didn't already get from the first film.

Action kino and worth a partial rewatch, but so unnecessary and makes up a bunch of bullshit to justify a sequel for the sake of it. Reminds me a lot of Metal Gear Solid 4.
