In this, Inglourious Basterds is no different than Mrs. Miniver, Casablanca, Desperate Journey, or other war films made while the war was still raging, meaning the real ending of Hitler committing suicide in his bunker hadn't happened yet. So, Basterds could depict its version of the war however it liked.

I personally don’t think he achieved that, but that was literally his intention with this movie.

Its an entertaining thriller that uses WW2 as a device to create context and stakes in its story. I don't think Quentin has anything to say about the Jews or Nazis or propaganda. At most its an exploration of Landa's cold opportunistic strategy and worldview, a villain that could exist in any conflict.
