Hayao Miyazaki has been saying for a long time that it is difficult to create villains in the modern era, so why didn't the Hollywood directors realize this?

This just sounds like he's upset that Communists are being portrayed as villains instead of Nazis.

There is nothing in here that everybody in Hollywood didn't already know, but movies need bad guys so they pick the FOTM and go with that.

Its hilarious how Miyazaki has 40 plus years of saying this dumb shit yet you watch one of his films and its just a generic children's adventure with next to zero allegory, except like, basic environmentalism. His films don't even feel necessarily Japanese when compared to his mentor and long-time business partner Isao Takahata.
