It was already fucking made, and the movie is 1,000 times better than whatever pretentious gamer slop you guys can come up with. Gamers are such fags, especially in recent years with all the shilling on /v/.
Get this through your thick skull: Gaming will always be looked down upon, and will never be considered art.

I 100% agree also. Gaming should just be something to have a little fun and kill time, not try to tell something profound. The medium itself isn’t even set up to do that. Roger Ebert is correct in his criticisms about video games.

Films are literally the lowest form of art and media today. They're all creatively bankrupt, two hours of filler slop aimed at the lowest IQs. They can't even make anything new so it's all sequels and stolen ideas from games, books, and comics. Which will always do it way better, of course, since movies have to cut everything to fit their shit format and audience.

The problem is that the game should be addressing all of its criticisms at Walker, not the person playing him.
The passive aggressive notes at the player would, if slightly reworked, do a good job of conveying someone coping over their actions.
Calling out the player works in RPGs, but it doesn’t work when they’ve been railroaded.

Saying SO is the pinnacle of game stories would be like claiming Get Out is the pinnacle of moviemaking. That said, game stories still suck balls as a rule. The best stories are ones that get the player invested, not ones that actually tell a good story.

This game feels like the writers and the level designers were on two different pages cause it has executions and licensed music that plays during cool set pieces but then you’re supposed to feel bad for using white phosphorus after you’ve already murdered like 100 people. this whole
>you the player are evil for playing
was all tiny brained videogame "journalists" jacking each other off how games are art and totally legit story telling media

the game is just about an already unstable walker losing his mind in dubai

No, it was the writer running his mouth and the loading screen text. The whole
>you can turn it off at any time
shit was straight from the devs.
The journalists were, for once, correct in focusing on this angle. The part they fucked up was thinking it was a good thing.

That’s unfortunate. I was going to look up the gameplay to see if it’s any fun at least.

This. It's metaphysically the moment games proved they can be art

>standard Cawadooty shooter clone of the time
>except it has more graphic and gory depictions of wartime violence
>and it shows civilians getting killed
>and at the end, it turns out you the player were the bad guy as part of the United States Army and the terrorist was the good guy the whole time
I've never played this game nor watched any reviews or recaps of it. Is this basically it? It seems like something a retarded person would find profound.

Silent Hill 2 also has some of the best environmental storytelling ever put in a game that you won't be able to capture in a movie the same way

Cool...the games forces you into dumb ass choices and then goes
>"how do you feel now? the game FORCED you into this choice but don't you feel bad?"
No, the only thing that makes me feel bad is this terrible "teh wurld aint blak n whit" dumb shit

The best video game stories are still mid tier movie stories. Video games cannot, should not, and will never be movies. Rdr2 is often hailed as a masterpiece in story telling but in reality, whilst a fun game, is just a sanitised retelling of The Wild Bunch.

You're basically correct except
>Cawadooty shooter clone
it is very much worse than CoD, it's the blandest third person shooter you could imagine
>something a retarded person would find profound
no arguments here, it tries way too hard to be profound so it just ends up being retarded

They originally made it where you didn't have to fire the white phosphorous. So, none of the playtesters fired the white phosphorous, which went against there 'muh america bad' theme so they removed the choice completely in the final game.
