i knew this was going to be abject dogshit from day 1 but i'm genuinely amazed how much further down into the pile they managed to bury themselves - in fact i'd say they skipped the pile and went straight for trying to fit themselves into the dog's asshole and return home

literally every single thing about it is bad. the costumes, the casting, the completely unnecessary plot and character changes that only made things worse, the bizarre pacing - again, the casting is so bad it needs to mentioned twice because everybody is like the same fat chinky looking gas station worker. they've somehow managed to take the dialogue from a children's show and make it even more hammy, cringe-inducing, and heavy handed

the best example is right at the beginning funnily enough. azulon literally explains his "secret master plan" like 3 times in a row, back to back, in slightly different ways.

their katara is also possibly one of the worst actors i've seen in years. every line she gets out sounds so forced it's not even funny. it's like she's embarrassed to even be there - like she's holding back dry, callous laughter every time she has to say some terribly written saccharine line about friendship or forgiveness or something

there's also the part in the water tribe when their grandma pretty much explains the entire intro sequence you just watched, again, in it's entirety

it's really fucking bad. it has the stink of chinese meddling all over it - i know that because chink movies have a habit of needing to describe the same shit over and over again because everybody watching is some kind of malnourished peasant that barely understands their native language. you know, if like 60-70% of the cast being fat chinks wasn't the biggest sign of that

actually the azulon and grandma examples are shit examples. because those sequences don't even EXIST in the original ATLA - and for good reason. so my best and technically only example is katara. aang is pretty terrible too but honestly they're all fucking terrible actors that don't fit the personality of the characters they're trying to play at all - which is partially the writing sure, but just as much their weak deliveries, painfully fake approximations of emotion, and total inability to emote with their faces. in essence the whole thing feels AI generated
