Modded Minecraft is obviously better than vanilla but it's still worse than Vintage Story unless you turn it into a different game than Minecraft altogether with a shitload of automation and factory mods, in which case you might as well just play Factorio and not halfass it

Immersive Engineering + add-ons, Gregtech, IC2 (though it's ugly). There are other good tech mods that I haven't played but I liked the aforementioned.
For non-tech, I need to look up my personal folder, but Rustic was good. There was a mod to make stews which was pure kino, but I forgot its name.
