To be fair, horrible mutations and hybrids makes perfect sense for this movie and then some. I mean, it takes place on the testing island— of course there’s going to be horribly gone wrong dinosaurs there. I’d argue that this idea in particular feeds more into the OG JP. “So preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t think about whether they should (or however the line went)”
That, and the dinosaurs have always been hybrids— frog DNA allowing them to switch sexes and have babies. Having terrible dinosaur hybrids causing havoc has been here since day 1. I’ll definitely admit and agree that the other JW movies definitely over-used it just for the sake of it, but imo it definitely feels like Rebirth is much more genuine. We’re literally going back to the roots of JP

It’s literally a short chode cloverfield. Cloverfield is the fucking end all be all of monster designs. It’s literally the same creature we’ve been getting for decades. Even the monsterverse has a wooly mammoth cloverfield, the mutos are black cloverfields, a spider cloverfield, a mountain cloverfield. It’s. In. Sane. Christ
