Daily Reminder that Metallica, Dr. Dre, etc., did nothing wrong.

Napster was a 100% unsustainable business-model due to even basic copyright law, and it was literally only a matter of time before copyright-holders moved to challenge it.
Metallica, Dr. Dre, etc. were simply some of the first, and if it hadn't been them it would have been other musicians or other companies a month or two later.

Limp Bizkut did the MI2 song. Dunno why everyone confuses that. Anyway I signed the class action lawsuit and eventually got a check i the mail for like $2.50...i still have it somewhere, it has the Napster logo on it.

Anyway Napster got through it and started selling music, leading to the rise of likewise and Morpheous...then Apple crushed everything.

Limp Bizkit supported Napster, which is partially why they had such a falling out with Eminem.

It wasn't Take A Look Around which is the Limp Bizkit one with the MI riff, it was some other song Metallica did that got leaked and one of them heard it playing on the radio before the soundtrack album was released.
Really, they should have just sued the station instead.

Todays piracy mostly because the streaming monopoly and the increasing number of ads displayed, hell even in amazon prime video you have to pay extra to remove the ads

>Rock band Metallica and rap pioneer Dr. Dre have also waded in against Napster in recent weeks.
>But Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst disagreed. He told a news conference that Napster was a great way for fans to sample an album before buying it.
>"I would think the only people worried about that are people that are really worried about their bank accounts,” he said.
