I don't know if you know this, but most people who do battle rapping or on-the-spot freestyle insult stuff are just not very good. You can watch some footage of Eminem's old competition days and he's just very different than what you'd expect. It's not some highly-organized verse stacked with metaphors and internal and external complex rhyme schemes and shit. It's just trying your best to tell jokes about how the other guy is gay.

There are plenty of competitions and shit where people come in and speak or rap pre-memorized, pre-written segments and that's got really complex jokes and punchlines and shit but that's just not how it is if you're doing it live and freestyle.
