Stuckmann was making it basically by himself from Kickstarter money, finished the movie and then had trouble finding distribution for like a year. He then got connected with Mike Flanagan who liked the movie enough to become an executive producer. Flanagan got Stuckmann's movie into a bunch of film festivals (world premiere at Fantasia Film Festival which is like the leading film festival for "genre movies") then he he got NEON to buy out the movie for distribution. It was supposed to come out earlier this year, but producers asked Stuckmann on why several scenes from the script aren't in the movie and he said that he didn't have enough money to shoot them. They doubled the budget (from one and a half million to like three) and he shot those films but the film had to obviously be delayed to October (which is probably good cause it's Halloween season).
