I think because Miura knew where he wanted the story to end up and it was a temporary arc so it was a short visceral tale of a man living in a brutal dark age. After that Miura loses track and it's a neat monster horror series but Miura was a pedo so he kept adding children to the story for no reason.
I tried reading some of his other works and he didn't have to pretend it hide his tastes so it's really just the same shit where he self inserts as a strong guy traveling with a child. It's pretty disgusting, thankfully none of them caught on.

Berserk is a good series and Miura is a fantastic artist, but I don't think there is much to glorify. He never finished his magnum opus and he could recreate that success, not could he understand what made his story appealing in the first place.
