Christ, and I thought Dark Souls/Elden Ring was unadaptable. This would be truly unadaptable. Literally 1 character, all alone. It would have to be like the first season of Primal. Not a single line of dialogue, just pure action and exploration

Actually its more but i get what you mean. Its a visual and auditory game where the story is minimal and the struggles the main character goes through is "told" via the control scheme.
It is literally unadaptable.

you would have to cut way down on the boss fights and make them unique so it's not all "stab the weak point for massive damage"
also have to change the ending to something more palatable to general audiences because they're not going to understand

lotta people here who have never seen an arthouse movie and can't conceive of a motion picture that doesn't follow a traditional structure

skip a few of the less interesting colossus's in montages or altogether
the more interesting ones, extended "problem solving" action sequences
insert flashbacks, to introduce Emon earlier, have Mono as an actual character we care about, and to spell things out for the audience

The best way to make and actually good movie based on a videogame is you should know the material, you should see the history, and if ti works as movie it means it has to be detached from the original story of the game it has to be placed in the same universe as the game, but it has to be its own thing, elder ring has to be about the world. Ypu have to be faithfull, but you cant recreate a videogame in a movie, neither the interactivity you have with the game, you can recreate the feelings the essence so it has to be made like that, with a vision in order to work as a movie

Episodic Genndy Tartakovsky series, silent protagonist and very atmospheric with each episode being one colossus, the final colossus taking 2 episodes of the journey there and then actually fighting it
