>>211769146The quality does wobble in later films, but I've always rejected the notion that each film is worse than the last because there's absolutely ups and downs in quality.
They're very enjoyable movies, they were made with a lot of passion, and while critics hating them is sorta expected, nerds have spent 20+ years seething about the fact that they're paradoxically a lot like the games but also different to the games. At the end of the day, it seems like they couldn't handle the fact that the films introduced their own main character and pivoted more into action. The problem I have is that the films are absolutely better written than the games. The dialogue quality is far, far higher. For years, nerds have been trying to claim that a game series famous for its awful, so-bad-its-good writing quality is actually better written than the films that loosely adapted it. It's peak delusion, and they can't be dissuaded from it. There's this frustrating "bitch eating crackers" energy where people aren't actually mad about any specific thing in the later movies because a lot of the plot ideas are pretty similar, especially in RE4-6. And RE7. And RE: Village. And Revelations 2. And RE9. They're just seething that it's Alice doing those things instead of one of their pet characters.
