As a kid I only had Empire and Jedi on VHS and could only see A New Hope if it was on TV. I love both and would watch them both back to back like every week on the tiny living room TV then I would play with my Star Wars Micromachines. I get that people think the Ewoks are weak but it's a fantasy film and there really wasn't anything like that in the movies (unless you consider them as fuzzy Jawas).

I even love the Ewoks in Return Of The Jedi. In my opinion, only the original trilogy films and the prequel trilogy films are canon. The Skywalker Saga is about the rise, fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker and the Disney sequel trilogy undermines that. As far as I'm concerned, Return Of The Jedi is the final film of the Skywalker Saga and, after Return Of The Jedi, the galaxy enjoys a golden age of a thousand years of relative peace and prosperity. George's complete vision for the sequel trilogy involved an enemy that was now less imposing and using subterfuge, a story that explored more ancient mysteries and old Jedi lore rather than another Empire versus Rebels story. Star Wars is one story divided into six episodes and, in my opinion, it is the most ambitious story ever put to film. luke's plan was two-fold: leia and lando were sent to act as spies, passing information to luke while he gooned in that cave outside the palace. leia's part obviously failed, and the droids' part also failed. luke's own personal entrance was meant to be the final nail, and that failed too because once again luke was overconfident in his abilities and had no clue of how the force worked on other species, he's lucky the choke worked on the gamorreans or that he was able to fool bib fortuna.
