people only remember the shot out scene but are completely in denial about the rest of the movie, which is like 2 and a half hours of boredom
you could cut like 45 - 60 mins of that movie and barely any plot would get lost

I say that in most heat threads but anons don't want to hear it, they want to stick their heads in the sand about natalie portman crying in a bathtub and an hour of guys sitting around tables telling each other they need to be ready to walk out on everything at a moments notice
it was a slog of a film to get through

>showing a small group of determined men taking things from the uber rich
can't have that anymore, watch your superhero movies where you are the helpless citizen waiting for an authority to save you.

>Thief
Fuck that. If Michael Mann can't make 90 minute movies that have only real material for 90 minutes, he should get at least get a competent editor and let him get rid of all of the boring scenes that serve no purpose but the polishing of Michael Mann's ego.

Same with Heat btw. Somewhere inside Heat is a good 90 minute crime/action movie, it's just buried under all of that personal relationship drama.

Heat is about three different worlds colliding, character development is essential.

Try con men/grifter movies, I feel like they scratch a similar itch. The Spanish Prisoner, House of Games and Matchstick Men are pretty good.

Everything has to be overly elaborate slop that falls apart under the least scrutiny. Nolan should be put to death.

Do Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch count as heist movies? Or are they something different entirely

If you like heist movies here’s a strong one. It’s great, a lot like The Killing if you’ve already seen that.

glimpses of their lifestyles are needed to differentiate between criminals, cops, and corporate. this creates factions that the viewer can get invested in.

I’ve never seen it but Norton, DeNiro, and Brando are all in that so it has to be worth the watch even if it was directed by the muppet guy.
