Its not awful but its not a scratch on the first.
The opening is excellent, the rest of film never makes it back to that level. For every decent idea/sequence it has there is an incredibly stupid idea or moment to follow up.

The whole way the virus breaks out again requires everyone to be completely retarded or actively trying to make it happen. And the way a lot of that action is shot is very sloppy. I noticed on my last rewatch theres a really embarrassing mistake that somehow made it into the final film too, during the bit where they're firebombing the streets, theres a quick insert shot of an actor on fire and you can literally see someone else just standing about in the shot with a clipboard (presumably a runner/assistant) just kinda hanging out watching the fire stunt. Thats some Samurai Cop level film making.

It's the only one that actually looks like a serious film. Yes, the free-access plot was retard but everything else was good.
Look, I'm the kind of person who actually tries to enjoy films. While everyone would be shitting on some movie, I'd be the one saying "You know, it was decent". I can't do it with 28 years. I enjoyed the kid going to understand the "outer world", I enjoyed Jodie Coomer playing a sick MILF. From the action perspective the zombies may not be bad. HOWEVER, zombies origin, euthanasia express and the shit ending ruined the film to me. There was no development from the zombie part. Hey look, there's zombies but you know, this film is about choosing to end your life and accepting someone you love choose to and die in less than 12 hours. (Mom? What are you going to do mom? ... *kid gets opioded* ... *12 hours later* ... *receives a white skull* ... that's your mom kid ... *kek*)

Always liked it. Cast is packed - Jeremy Renner, Idris Elba, Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, absolutely gorgeous Imogen Poots, Harold Perrineau of all people as well.

Yeah the characters are not really developed, but it's more an action flick to the first horror one. 28 Weeks is Aliens and 28 Days is Alien, simple as.
