I’ve never laughed as hard at a movie as I did upon seeing this one at age 13-14. Any older or younger, it probably wouldn’t have had the same effect.

I was there opening night with my Dad and the theater was completely sold out. We didn't even know it was showing that night, we were just in the mall to buy some stuff and saw the line for the theater upstairs and after asking what it was for he asked me if I wanted to watch it because we had watched the first one together and thought it was funny. I've never heard more people laugh that hard or that loud anywhere else in my life. It was amazing.

>based Father's Day-adjacent story
I forced my dad to go to the theater and see "There's Something About Mary" (1998) with my brother and I. The whole time before it started, my dad said, "Come on, Anon, I don't want to watch a romcom!" I told him the Farrley Brothers made it, it'll be funny. At the balls in zipper scene, we were all crying laughing.

Today, my dad is dead and only my brother whines about boomers because he's 9 years younger than me and he's bi now.

The sound design of this movie is also amazing like Kung Pow. Great practical and CGI effects for the time too. I don't ever hear people talk about how good the sound is in this movie. I can't imagine how awesome it must have sounded in a theatre. I've only seen and heard it in my home theatre. You can close your eyes during the first ten minutes and the sound design will legit paint the picture of what is on the screen if anyone wants to try it. It's REALLY good.
