>>211808228 (OP)Terrifier 3 is the most deeply Christian movie since The Passion of the Christ. It's a Trumpian Christian movie in that it is equipped with intensity warranted by the evils of today, and the form it takes to battle evil may register to dusty, unimaginative conservatives as vulgarity and decadence.
Every frame is filled with Christian symbolism. It's a Christmas movie, not a neoliberal "holiday" movie, and the use of religious Christmas songs throughout is significant. When things switch to the nonreligious Jingle Bells children are mass murdered in a mall, a devastating scene of modern terrorism masquerading as comic exaggeration.
Art the Clown is a demon that requires a deranged and nihilistic human host to enter the world, in this case a self-mutilating, suicidal, gender-ambiguous creature which masturbates to destruction with a piece of glass-- the most effective by far of this year's cinematic attempts to reckon with the gender dysphoric apocalypse. Sienna Shaw has been in and out of rehab since her battle with the demon and her synchronistic sense of good and evil disturbs her family, especially her little brother who tries to rationalize the clown away with higher education and meds. The only person not scared of Sienna is her cousin, who reads Sienna's secret journal describing her experiences, a leatherbound book identical to a Bible.
The gift of faith, symbolized by the sword used to the defeat the clown, was given to Sienna by her father, played by Jason Patric, son of Jason Miller, the exorcist who sacrificed himself for Reagan MacNeil in 1973. God is working through Damien Leone.
