Seinfeld was carried by Larry David which is why shit like raymond and friends never had authenticity in their writing. They try too hard to be funny because they aren't funny, and they wind up not being funny. the Seinfeld show didn't need to try and be funny, because it was already funny just existing, so when you have episodes like Jerry stealing olive loaf from a grandma, it's memorable. Name 1 single episode of Raymond at all, that also doesn't involve them parading his hot wife in a bikini. you cant. Raymond's merits were having a hot wife. Seinfeld's merits were being funny. Raymond as a comedian in general is an absolute hack, all his jokes are centralized around his shitty life as a young father. he fucking sucks. Jerry also fucking sucks, but Larry David carved out a solid show through him. Seinfeld as a show would suck ass if he had a family and lived in the suburbs. Friends as a show is just rich kikes being young and rich, there's no jokes at all except callbacks. Seinfeld works because they're all terrible people.
