Memes aside, I kinda hate the ending of this movie. Having his brother get killed only seems to make his racism and hatred feel almost justified in the end, for a movie trying to tell us that racism is bad.
The only thing that could've made it darker is an after credits scene where Derek is shaving his head in the bathroom again, dyeing up his old nazi tattoos as the color gradient goes back to black and white.

He created a path of violence for his brother. It’s been like 10 years since I’ve seen it but I’m pretty sure a major theme of the movie is willingly choosing to live a violent dangerous life instead of doing basically anything else. He wasn’t a victim of his environment, his brother was.
