The ending to 28 Years Later looks like it was shot in 2005 by some edgelords and uploaded to their Ninja/Parkour YouTube Channel, where they demonstrate their "skills" and how badass they are, complete with a shitty metal soundtrack. Everyone is dressed like Jimmy Saville, and all the characters in the ending are named Jimmy (credits prove this).
It was tonally out of place and killed whatever emotional impact the movie had literally one second prior to the ending happening.

The Netflix documentary about him was kino ngl people basically admitting they all knew but it was fine because he did muh charity work. Godless freaks

Its quite genius if you think about it. The whole movie was filled with inconsistencies, experimental ideas in its execution and a plot that's apparently vaguely lifted from the graphic novel Crossed. A lackluster 5/10 movie that probably would have been critically panned and forgotten like every other 20+ year sequel has. However, if you add to it some tonal shift scene referencing something obscure but not too obscure, you'll have droves upon droves of faggots defending it and calling it "kino". They'll get their dopamine fix by going "Well... you just lack media literacy and don't understand the reference that's why you think it's bad" in comment sections everywhere. They'll get their "did you know Aragorn hurt his toe in that scene" moment when they talk with people they know, they'll feel in the know. Which means your mediocre 5/10 movie just became a 10/10 in the eyes of the pseudo-intellectuals that love knowing pointless irrelevant slop to make themselves feel smarter.

i really don't see how you arrived at this conclusion, lad.
i haven't seen the film, my guess is they just wanted weird, costumed gang. that's a bit of a trend in films (clown costumes, Austin Powers masks, whatever).
everyone in Britain watching this British film is going to go, 'oh, Jimmy Savile, right,' and frankly i doubt most people will care, even with how horrific his deeds were. i'm guessing the horror film has gore and other video nastiness.
