What’s the draw beyond “this is a Disney movie”? You can’t fail 5 times and then wonder why nobody shows up for the 6th. Building trust with consumers is a long process that can only sometimes be circumvented by skilled marketing but usually just requires a mountain of good work for people to trust in.

The problem is that remakes are a cheap and easy way to build trust. Once you waste those opportunities, you now have to spend time making more expensive OC just to bring your company back up to zero.

I don't know if it's the vaxx or demoralization or what, but it seems like middle class people are just too tired to do anything these days beyond work (if they even work) and vegging on the sofa. Maybe they'll muster the strength to go to a film, but if you have a movie that does moderately well, expect an immediate dip as the people who went to see it have to recoup for a month before they can manage to go out again. Only the poor seem to still have energy (not target of demoralization) to do anything, and even that's not much, and they can't afford to go to the theater.
