Very few films accurately capture napoleonic warfare

>neat boxes waltz up to each other and take shots
>bayonet charges are chaotic melee battles
>cavalry an afterthought or for officers only
>artillery does nothing

In truth the battles were long and full of movement, soldiers basically never stood still and staying in formation was a constant struggle. Concentrated volleys were valued less than how many shots a regiment could get down range in an allotted time so often there was sporadic fire. Most of the battle was spent marching and organizing yourself into position. Bayonet charges were more of a trot towards your opponent and essentially never ended in a melee battle but rather one army breaking/fleeing. Artillery and cavalry were more important to the battlefield than the infantry, which largely were a support tool for the aforementioned two.
