Was it necessary to take his son with him on his death dive?

The only kid on board was the son of the pajeet billionaire.
If Stockton knew he was going to die and chose to take two streetshitters with him, well... maybe he wasn't such a bad guy after all.

>Implying he's actually deceased
>Implying he didn't see WW3 coming a mile away and subsequently fake his own death
>Implying he's not alive in his magnificent underwater city accessible only to billionaires and the world's greatest artists and scientists

so did they have any indication the hull was failing or was it just an instant death with no warning?
someone in the last thread was saying they had initiated an emergency ascent so they had to have known something was wrong.
but then someone else said dropping all your ballast is actually normal and to trust the experts.

The carbon fiber hull made gnarly popping sounds as the threads broke so its possible they had a big one that scared them before the actual collapse.

Posted this in a thread awhile ago, but my gramps served in the navy in WW2 and apparently if you showed any nervous tics whatsoever, even biting your fingernails, they wouldn't let you anywhere near a submarine. It takes a certain kind of personality type to be able to get in a sub and be there for a sustained amount of time and about 99.9% of people shouldn't be doing so because they can't handle the stress and they will almost certainly lose their shit once they realize they're way the fuck under hundreds of feet of dark water and that there's no escape.

You don't just go from being a wealthy NEET Pakistani kid playing vidya all day to becoming a seasoned submariner overnight. If you stick the average person in a tin can hundreds of feet below sea level with no training they WILL freak out. Think about your mom or your girlfriend or your youngest sibling in that same situation and honestly ask yourself how they would react, because that's basically what the Paki dad put that kid through.

Here's what probably went down
>They get to a serious depth
>Hull starts creaking
>Kid freaks out
>Paki dad and other billionaire don't want to waste their money because of some kid being a little bitch
>Argument ensues
>Paki kid freaks out and lunges for the controller
>Everyone starts wrestling
>Sub starts tilting the wrong way due to everyone fighting over the controls
>Pilot is desparately trying to yank away the logitech from Paki kid
>Ballast gets deployed due to button mashing
>Kid hits the wrong button
>*poot*

100% chance they were at each other's throats down there for at least a few seconds before shit really hit the fan and they all abruptly got smushed

are you saying the controller had a button on it to self-destruct the sub?

I don't think anyone knows for sure. It's entirely possible that they heard the carbon fibre starting to delaminate shortly before they died, but it's also possible that it didn't make any sound until it actually failed (then they would have been dead before their brains had time to process the information).

That wouldn't cause the hull to catastrophically and violently implode.

So you're saying that if you guys and myself were all in the OceanGate submarine, you'd just let me have the controls and do whatever the fuck I wanted? Apparently there's no danger in that because my actions alone are not going to cause us to implode according to you.

If I got in a military-grade nuclear submarine and started monkeying with the controls to the point where I was able to nose-dive the thing, you're saying that couldn't cause the submarine to lose hull integrity? Now imagine that military-grade nuclear submarine was in fact not a military-grade nuclear submarine and that it was built in some redneck's garage. Sure the POS might perform okay in absolutely ideal conditions, but once I started pressing random buttons I would probably cause our demise at some point, even in an ideal scenario.

Surely they had some kind of warning system that would have told them to go back up before it got to be a serious and irreversible issue. They'd already tested it and done dives before, so why didn't it *poot* then? Only thing that makes sense to me, is that someone started fucking with stuff they weren't supposed to down there. There's absolutely no way that NOBODY on board had a clue as to their imminent demise, didn't do anything about it, and didn't let on that they were about to get stomped by Poseidon.
