Hollywood hires diversity instead of talent. Not only actors, but writers and directors as well. They immediately go and self-insert themselves into the stories, ultimately making movies and TV shows for a very small niche audience. Just so that when people complain their product is shit, they can and will invariably say: "It wasn't made for you. Don't watch it."

The sad part is that Hollywood executives still haven't learned that if you spend 180 million dollars on a Starwars show for black lesbian women or even "just" 40 million on a Marvel show for handicapped mute native American women, you won't have an audience to justify the expense.

The so-called "modern audience" does not exist. Or if it does, it fails to manifest itself in box office numbers. If entertainment is really a business and not just a way to burn money, they need to learn who pays for cinema tickets, subscriptions and merchandise and produce content for those people.
