It's obvious the sheriff was always meant to be RJ. They meet in the second episode of the show during a crime that was clearly bait to get Jane to meet him without realizing he's meeting him. Then in the same episode they establish the cult since it proved that RJ was getting help from inside the police force at their precinct even when he wasn't around.

That's a lot already and I'd argue it's more than that. Every Stiles episode is essentially a red herring episode for RJ for starters. Then there's all the henchmen and then the people who double crossed RJ who were the episodic villains so he had them killed begore Jane could question them, etc.

I actually didn't mind it. I feel like there could have been just a bit more, but overall I thought it was okay. I especially liked that he just killed him. I honestly thought they were going to cop out with the whole revenge plot and he was going to hand him over like every other god awful revenge movie / show. Instead he just kills him. That was insanely satisfying. Especially making him beg.
And then later he even says it was the greatest feeling ever, again surprising me because I was sure he was gonna be all depressed and whatever.

Honestly a great show. It's insane that episodic shows basically don't exist anymore. And if they do, they don't have anywhere near as fun a cast of characters.

I'm watching this right now because I saw it popping up every now and then on this board. I didn't remember shit about the show from when I watched it when it aired, outside of that one scene at the end of the third season. I thought that happened much later. But then I got the actual conclusion to the main story line. Man, that was ass. On one hand I'm glad I didn't remember it because otherwise I wouldn't have enjoyed most of the other episodes, but man, I'm just disappointed.
