Why do star wars fans accept the prequels (which were lampooned by critics) but reject the sequels?

Good or bad, they were peak George. It's not Star Wars without George.

The prequels were the guy who made Star Wars trying to make more Star Wars
the disney trilogy was women and jews trying to make what they thought star wars was (first and third) or show off how the director is so much smarter than the audience (the second)

Sequels were made by Disney after they did a total teardown and rape of the entire Star Wars universe. Prequels were still done by Lucas and are therefore actual Star Wars

the sequels are trash. The prequels had soul even if the dialogue was bad and the cgi looks dated now.

They were kids when they saw the prequils and adults when they saw the sequels. Now you know how genx felt watching phantom menace as grown adults.

Despite some people on /tv/s irrational hatred of orange pussy the prequels have a bunch of good supplementary material, sequels have nothing.

Nothing in the prequels is as bad as Starkiller Base, the Republic completely dismantling its military after the galactic civil war or the character assassination of Luke.

I get people disliked Midichlorians, the fight choreography and political dialogue in the prequels but it seems very silly compared to what Disney did in response to people criticizing the prequels.

NPCs too hollow and devoid of thought to be capable of forming their own opinions on anything. That's who.

The world building in the prequels was great and translated well to other forms of media like games and books. The sequels are sanitized trash that doesn't add anything new, the first order was just the empire with slightly different outfits. The rEsIsTaNcE is the rebels but they're part of the system so what are they resisting? All the new blasters are either prequel era with a slight overhaul (First order) or look terrible (resistance). No new ships, the aliens look boring, the worlds are boring. I named all that without even touching the plot or story. It's just bad, no creativity

Because the prequels are sophisticated films while the sequel movies are for proletarians.

The prequels were poorly written films that still had some very entertaining and intriguing moments. Children who grew up watching them, as well as the cartoons that did a lot of work to smooth over their rough edges, are now in their 20s/30s. Many of these former prequel kids have zero understanding of critique beyond "I liked it, so it was good." They genuinely cannot do the tiny amount of mental labor it takes to say "they're not well written, but I really enjoy them."
The sequels have yet to build up and audience like that. They didn't really land with children, being too self-referential to the larger series, and so far there hasn't been an equivalent to the Clone Wars cartoon to "fix up" the ST. (Mandoverse might be sort of doing that, we'll see)
Give it twenty years and there may be some kids who grow up really enjoying the ST, but right now they're movies that can be labeled "controversial" at best.

There's been no good sequel era secondary media and it's been over a decade now since disney bought the IP. Think of the amazing games we got during the prequel era.

They had a cartoon called Resistance, but it only lasted two seasons. The problem with the Sequels is that you can't really do much with it directly since it all takes place over a single year, which is why almost all Sequel spinoff media is either the buildup that explains why the galaxy took stupid pills or the 8-9 gap that is mostly occupied by theme park tie-ins.
