I loved it..Tim Burton expands on his signature work, avoiding the pitfalls of so many sequels and reboots and, astonishingly, delivers something superior to the original. It's not enslaved to replicating the original, nor does it push the returning cast into the background. Rather it's new, faithful, and a lot of fun. Funnier and scarier, the movie expands on the world and characters. Jenna Ortega continues to prove her Burtonesque chops as more than a monotone Hot Topic cut out, as the daughter of Lydia, who Winona Ryder infuses with humanity, vulnerability, and pathos, reminding us why we love her. Michael Keaton is back in top form, making the eponymous character into an antihero worth rooting for. As the revelation that a hope for Heaven exists, it's not only better, but gooder. I hope Burton doesn't keep us waiting decades for the finale.

I enjoyed it enough even though it was pretty scattershot as far the story went. For a sequel to Beetlejuice that came out close to 40 years after the original, they could have done a lot worse.

It was fine I guess, I had low expectations and it managed to be better than that. Really just like seeing keaton go fucking ham when he's in costume.
Probably could have used another draft of the script to shave off a few of the crowded subplots to tighten the movie up.
Catherine O'Hara is always funny.

It was fine.
They acted their parts as well as could have been done.
It just wasn't a new idea anymore.

Lydia should have married Beetlejuice in the end
even Winona herself agrees.

Watched it in the cinema, like the orginal, and actually thought it was pretty well done. Was fairly surprised desu. It's been a long time since I've watched a movie that's so close in spirit to the original, though decades apart. Of you enjoyed the original, this sequel is pretty damn good.

entirely disagree. BJ2 had absolutely no intrigue. whereas Beetlejuice was constant intrigue. the "romance" almost made me feel embarrassed for watching BJ2.

it was above average, but it would've worked better if you dropped/reworked some of the different plot lines. drop dafoe/ghost boy and focus on monica/beetlejuice, or drop monica entirely and have dafoe also chasing the ghost boy after breaking out.

No, it sucked. Complete waste of time. The only scene I liked is the villain introduction with the Bee Gees song playing, and that's just because it was arousing.

It's pretty good for a soulless sequel.
Still it lacked a cute and young goth girl so it will never be as good as the original.
