The visuals of In the Lost Lands are incredibly striking. Just a shame it's so disjointed and the plot is a mess. I wonder if it'll become a cult classic like The Keep. The soundtrack is very good, by that ex-Tangerine Dream guy.

I very much enjoyed the mythic qualities of In The Lost Lands and the allusions to other films such as 1984, company of wolves, conan the barbarian. Ending was pretty good, tone was good. Kind of rushed second half.

My issue with the ending is that I don't think the last few minutes were needed. It overexplains itself and ends on a weird freeze frame. It should have ended with the cut to black on Boyce's grave.

I recognized a lot of the influences.
>Forbidden love between Boyce and Queen is based on The Mummy.
>The Patriarch is based on the villain from Conan whose name escapes me.

Actually the last few minutes were the good part of the 'ending sequence' it provides emotional catharsis in its denouement (the fact that it has a formal denouement lends to its mythic and emotional qualities because it is literally affirming). The movie is about the ending and required it for its structure.
