You zoomers throw around that word 'melodramatic' but that would imply Heat is being exaggerated about its drama when if anything the movie and its characters if anything underreact to their circumstances rather coldly. Imagine saying you like 12 Angry Men but can't appreciate the diner scene which is probably the best example of subtle forshadowing in media

Most Nolan (except Tenet)
Mulholland Drive (itโ€™s good but every director naming it best of the 21st century is ridiculous)
Shawshank Redemption (babyโ€™s first โ€œfilmโ€)
Uncut Gems (LOVE the Safdies but itโ€™s their weakest, easily)
Every Capeshit ever
Parasite (we get it youโ€™re cultured and love Korean movies, bravo for picking easily the worst one)
Drive (great soundtrack, I love the Goose but Pines, Lars, Half-Nelson, BR 2049 I mean take your pick theyโ€™re all better than that retard Refnโ€™s slop)
lastly, the most overrated of all time: GLADIATOR. if you think itโ€™s high art then youโ€™re functionally spastic and medically a faggot

You know I'd like some clarity on this what do you call an actor phoning it in. I thought DeNiro was great in Heat and his actor being cold and detached makes sense for his line of work specifically what he keeps saying in the movie about having to leave everything behind. Now John Cusack in Hot Tub Time Machine, thats a phoned in performance.

Only tryhard Cinophiles say Hollywood is his best one. Tarantino has only made one good film worth rewatching and thats Reservoir Dogs. The rest of his movies are gratuitous filled with pretentious dialog and characters waxing poetically about movies so he can felate critics and oscar bait because he's oh so elevated. I truly believe Tarintino is a film nerd but across all his movies his only good things are his cinematography his storyboarding is ass and his dialoge isn't natural

Came here to post this. I do believe it's a good movie, but saying it's the best of all time? There is this sentiment that Godfather is impeccable, without any flaws, and this I cannot understand.
Pacing is all over the place, you have enough time to setup that one scene with horse head and show how Michael fucks around abroad, but nothing on gangster wars he's hiding from?
Michael himself is absolutely flat character so his "getting crooked" bit doesn't work. He wasn't established like a good person, it was mentioned that he was to war and we saw some medals. Why? For what? He behaves like a plotdevice, so when he becomes a criminal there is no dramatic effect.
Some scenes of violence are cartoonish as hell. Mainly when Vito is shot and falls all ove the car, when Tonny is shot on the road, when they kill the snitching husband of their sister. Those scenes looked so out of place with the somber direction of the movie.
Still enjoyed it, but have little to no desire to continue the series.

The one post ITT i can get behind. I was watching a YouTube video about how absolute dogshit the latest Pixar movie is and one of the main points they were making was the constant center framing of everything and how it was a microcosm of how far Pixar has fallen off.

During the whole thing all I could think about was Villememe and how even on his deathbed he will still be shooting his final moments center frame.

The Godfather. I can't get through this shit. Call me a pleb all you want I don't get it. I feel like it's one of those movies people claim to like to sound like film snobs.

the funny thing about heat is how TWO of the main characters are getting cucked. like one cucked subplot is not sufficient

I really hate how people lean into how films are subjective when in reality there's things you can point to in a film that are objective things that make it good. Two of the biggest things are cinematography and plot/story. If those things are well done you are two out of three for things. Sadly acting is subjective because twats will really look at a character acting in character and say "Yeah he was phoning it in" oh I'm sorry the clinically depressed character with no attachments isn't overacting over here like John Travolta in Face Off. You could boil it down to how believable an actors performace is but spergs will still go "Yeah but Dicaprio being in the movie ruined my immersion" You can't reason with spergs
