it's really easy, just take something that isnt too outlandish and translate it into a movie properly, not just adapt it autistically close like the japanese would do. the western adaptions usually suffer from wanting to adapt and do its own thing at the same time, where its neither fish nor flesh. thats why the japanese ones are better by default, because they dont bother moving away from the material too much. i always bring this up, but look at kill bill vol. 1 for example. it's essentially just a japanese anime/manga/martial arts movie. very derivative and in the core, the story is "just" an americanized lady snowblood. and thats fine, its a basic revenge story on both acounts, the execution matters.

let's say they would actually adapt metal gear solid. what is the core element of the story you would want to adapt? terrorists take over a research facility and take the world hostage and a lone spy has to stop them? this could be either a bond movie or just mission impossible, the only difference is the window dressing, the atmosphere and the style of the whole thing. you dont have to have snake in it, nor liquid, it's about nuclear deterrence and rogue nations or groups having all the power to threaten the world. very topical right now, wouldnt you say?

it's not rocket science, yet they almost always mess it up. i guess they just dont care enough, its just brand recognition.

Final Fantasy 7 basically made people think more discs meant you were getting more. The game was 3 disks long. And you did get a lot. So imagine you've got another RPG coming out and its only 1 disk. People are going to suddenly think its shit and they'll be getting less in comparison

Most games with stories worth telling feel a bit long to fit into a movie format without compromising the story.

FF6 and Chrono Trigger could work in a TV format.

I think Monkey Island could be adapted into a fun movie though it would be better if they didn't try to do any single game directly but took some ideas and story notes and the general feel of the series.

I think a Wasteland movie would do pretty well if they keep it grounded and lean into the pulp elements of it

Turok would be the ultimate competition to Jurassic World. Especially since Turok takes place on a different planet they could definitely open it up more and not be as restrained.

Of all the Ghost Recon games I definitely think this has the best setting and a lot of creative freedom on how they can tackle it.

I'd love to see an adaption of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, though which route would the adaption be of, with Denim's choice? Denim as the Butcher of Golyat I think would make for the most compelling one, especially how Denim's choice changes his friend, Vice. Anons are very forgiving and understanding of Anakin, despite a lot of questionable choices he made. He made them mostly out of good intentions, even if they didn't result in good outcomes. Makes for good discussion
