Record companies were so incredibly evil in the 90s before the internet showed up and fucked them up good.
They would literally "pay" a tv station or radio station to play the same song 20 times a day. They called it "heavy rotation".

Yes. The only video they played was Blind by Korn. There were little messages from the viewers at the bottom of the screen saying hi to their friends and you paid a dollar or something to do it

Payola has been going on since the 50s at least. The internet and mp3s really did drop a bomb on the entire industry. Too bad Napster took the fall for being the first to revolutionize tape copying. I mean file sharing

I think they vetted the people a little bit like you had to show up in advance and someone with a headset and clipboard asked you to show her your dance moves and decided whether you're going to be allowed in and how close to the camera she's going to tell you to stand and dance.

It was vetted. A lot of National Ballet School kids, and the producers would hit the clubs and raves to scout dancers. About 50% were invites, theyโ€™d bring some friends; add muchmusic/city tv staff/friends and maybe 10-15% would get face control from the crowd outside and get invited in. It was always a party outside in the street though. (Until some bridge and tunnel guidos or nigs started groping girls). I miss the Queens street Much studios and whole scene on that strip. You could get decent loaded at some of the dive bars, head to much and then the Rivoli or any of the live music places. Spend maybe $30-40 for a decent night before heading to pizza pizza or a street dog .

Toronto can still be fun but yeah, most of the burbs are infested with jeets, chinks, nogs and slavcunts. Hell I used to go to Roncy all the time but now it's filled with crackheads, literal 60IQ fresh from the plane polacks and shitty leftycunt boomers and techbros driving prices up and making formerly cool areas lame. Surprisingly Quebec isn't as bad thanks to French mandatory policies filtering the shit out (except for niggers of course!)
