It really drives me crazy how some people to this day say the prequels were so bad, some of them even say the sequels are better.

First of all, maybe it's just nostalgia, but I still love the prequels. But the sequels, and most of Disney Star Wars, is unimaginably bad.
Like I don't understand how someone can watch both and think disney-era star wars is better in any way.
Are they on crack?

People who equally see both as not very good are perfectly valid in my opinion though.

The prequels are flawed masterpieces that tell the story of how democracies can be subverted and destroyed from the shadows by George Soros/Palpatine type figures. The meme melodramatic dialogue unironically helped these films become more timeless. New viewers watch the films for the memes then stay for the unexpected kino. The best sequel series meme is "they fly now? They fly now" and "somehow, Palpatine returned". The sequels aged like milk, the prequel kinos are aging like fine wine.

Watched the Prequels a couple months ago, still good as I remembered.

Also these were the first movies filmed digitally and nearly entirely on green screen sets. Though mocked at the time, for better or for worse most Hollywood blockbusters are filmed using this method now. The prequels were incredibly innovative and influential despite their negative reputation RLM and Hollywood media rags gave them.

Actually that's not true. Most of the shots in the film are actually either hand-built miniature sets with the actors being filmed on green screens and then downsized to fit or full-sized rooms with CGI used in the background to add a sense of scale. All of these techniques were all used in the Original Trilogy to a lesser extent.

The only people who hated on prequels were boomers and genXers who thought de Rebels and de Evil Empire were the peak of storytelling.

Us young millenials who can actually comprehend complexity loved these movies and also acknowledge that these movies spawned the best Star Wars media like KOTOR, Battlefront, Jedi Knight, EAW etc

I grew up with the prequels. Enjoyed I and II, never really got the appeal of III. Recently rewatched them for the first time in well over a decade alongside the rest of the series and I still enjoyed watching them, but they're not particularly great and III is still the biggest nothingburger in the series. Grievous is the only thing the movie has to offer that you can't just fill in yourself based on dialogue from the other movies.
