>>211953822 (OP)Cinema and Pornography are one in the same. When watching either we become voyeurs. It should also be noted the gendered dichotomy between cinema that men and women consume. Men tend to be vicariously sadistic in action or horror flicks where we watch characters like Rambo or Jason commit mass killings. On the flipside, women tend to be masochistic because they generally watch chick flicks or animated films where characters are more passive and usually have a tear-jerking moment. Interesting enough a lot of male films have a sadomasochistic element, usually towards the end, with the character we identify with either sacrificing themselves or getting a comeuppance (the final girl killing the slasher). However to answer your general question, pornography won't be held in the same standards as cinema because there's a complete and total lack of subtext in the plotlines of porn (the plumber, the personal trainer, the pizzaman, etc) that tends to be considered shallow. That being said the shallowness is also sometimes prescient because having no mask or filter that porn has allows for representation of cultural fetishes and taboos.
