The podrace is one of the most boring things in all of Star Wars. No tension, no sense of danger, and despite everyone saying Anakin has never so much as finished a race before, all he has to do to win is hold down the throttle and race faster. Been rewatching the movies. It's actually nuts how dogshit the dialogue is in ep 1-3, and how they through editing alone changed the fact Anakin wasn't present for the attempt on the senate's life. Just.. "Oh cut him out, i like it better that way".

The entire story is there: He fears death, he is told how to prevent death, pursues said way to avoid death. Yet it just falls so fucking flat.
