weirdly, another anecdote, when I applied for the army after leaving school there were a bunch of people who on the surface were strong as nails but it turned out about 1/3 of my group had heart defects that meant they couldn't join. it was fucked up. people that spent the past couple years training everyday had an ECG and found out their hearts didn't beat properly.
