Literally the only thing that was remotely suspicious in this regard was him spending a year in south america while a CIA guy who was from his home town and he might have known was also there. That's it. Seems a lot more likely that being treated like a literal god for years, being able to fuck every woman he wanted and being on a ton of uppers all day every day made him paranoid.
