They started going downhill slightly in season 6. Season 7 had some good episodes but was largely a mess. I stopped watching in season 8, literally in the middle of "My Sister, My Sitter". Oh well, they had a good run.
South Park, on the other hand, has been consistently awesome for however many seasons they have. 25?

Disagree wholeheartedly with your South Park comment. And The Simpsons was great way past the golden age—I found it palatable up until around 2011.
