'The Secret War of Lisa Simpson' (the episode where she goes to military school) is SO satisfying because she actually undergoes physical torment. I know they got clever later on with 'haha isn't Lisa a bit preachy sometimes?' but it's nice seeing her get her comeuppance as part of the plot.

I badly wish The Simpsons ended in the 90s when it was at its peak. That's something Seinfeld did right, it knew it was a product of the 90s (despite technically beginning in 1989) and rightfully ended in the 90s. The Simpsons just feels incongruous in the 21st century.

i don't get WHY the writing tanked so much.
the animation quality dipped as well. think around season 9 or 10 they switched to 'digital ink and paint' and everything became oversaturated.
i wish they just changed the intro around then, back when i was watching it on TV. just as a quick tell that it's not going to be a classic episode, it's a new episode. (now that we're in the space age future of streaming/piracy, zoomers will NEVER understand this feel.)
