it was a dumb move but not the biggest problem. The main issue is the lack of relatable characters and stakes. Its made clear early on that Ripley is gonna die too and the inmates are just a bunch of rapists and murderers. There also arent any more revelations about the aliens aside from the "dog alien" gimmick so all in all the script is lacking.

I've been a fan of the extended cut since it was released. It's character driven kino. Dillon, Clemens, Warden Andrews, 85, Morse and Golic are all fantastic standouts played by tremendous actors. The scene between Ripley and the damaged Bishop is also one of my favourite in the entire series.
