Series is impossible to adapt
You can either do a series, that will have poor budget and shitty cgi but adapting all the good short stories, or a movie with good transformations and andalites, but it will have a very shitty condensed storyline

>Dear Animorphs Readers:
>Quite a number of people seem to be annoyed by the final chapter in the Animorphs story. There are a lot of complaints that I let Rachel die. That I let Visser Three/One live. That Cassie and Jake broke up. That Tobias seems to have been reduced to unexpressed grief. That there was no grand, final fight-to-end-all-fights. That there was no happy celebration. And everyone is mad about the cliffhanger ending.
>So I thought I’d respond.
>Animorphs was always a war story. Wars don’t end happily. Not ever. Often relationships that were central during war, dissolve during peace. Some people who were brave and fearless in war are unable to handle peace, feel disconnected and confused. Other times people in war make the move to peace very easily. Always people die in wars. And always people are left shattered by the loss of loved ones.
>That’s what happens, so that’s what I wrote. Jake and Cassie were in love during the war, and end up going their seperate ways afterward. Jake, who was so brave and capable during the war is adrift during the peace. Marco and Ax, on the other hand, move easily past the war and even manage to use their experience to good effect. Rachel dies, and Tobias will never get over it. That doesn’t by any means cover everything that happens in a war, but it’s a start.
>Here’s what doesn’t happen in war: there are no wondrous, climactic battles that leave the good guys standing tall and the bad guys lying in the dirt. Life isn’t a World Wrestling Federation Smackdown. Even the people who win a war, who survive and come out the other side with the conviction that they have done something brave and necessary, don’t do a lot of celebrating. There’s very little chanting of ‘we’re number one’ among people who’ve personally experienced war.

>I’m just a writer, and my main goal was always to entertain. But I’ve never let Animorphs turn into just another painless video game version of war, and I wasn’t going to do it at the end. I’ve spent 60 books telling a strange, fanciful war story, sometimes very seriously, sometimes more tongue-in-cheek. I’ve written a lot of action and a lot of humor and a lot of sheer nonsense. But I have also, again and again, challenged readers to think about what they were reading. To think about the right and wrong, not just the who-beat-who. And to tell you the truth I’m a little shocked that so many readers seemed to believe I’d wrap it all up with a lot of high-fiving and backslapping. Wars very often end, sad to say, just as ours did: with a nearly seamless transition to another war.
>So, you don’t like the way our little fictional war came out? You don’t like Rachel dead and Tobias shattered and Jake guilt-ridden? You don’t like that one war simply led to another? Fine. Pretty soon you’ll all be of voting age, and of draft age. So when someone proposes a war, remember that even the most necessary wars, even the rare wars where the lines of good and evil are clear and clean, end with a lot of people dead, a lot of people crippled, and a lot of orphans, widows and grieving parents.
>If you’re mad at me because that’s what you have to take away from Animorphs, too bad. I couldn’t have written it any other way and remained true to the respect I have always felt for Animorphs readers.
It's a war story that refuses to glorify war

I mean
There's also people that are really happy and profit a lot from war, you don't see that reflected on the book
You also don't see the fanatic crowd that do want to go to war
You also don't see the mercenary type that goes to war as a job, and just paint houses later with no remorse or guilt and would happily go again for a good pay
There's a lot of end states of war that leaves a lot of people happy
Obliterating war with no casualties on your side is heavily celebrated
You just started war with Iran, bombed them out, and claim "war over", how does that fit into K's worldview

As a spanish speaker, I sadly never follow up on books past 23-25 when I was a kid, simply because they were just not translated anymore
I heard they used a lot of ghost writers and sometimes the books were even more wacky past the 30 mark, is that true?
I can read english just fine now, can I get into it again, or is it dated as fuck?
I remember I cringed at the start when they were talking about Mortal Kombat and some lines were really "how you do fellow kids", but I liked the series

being able to turn into an animal is so stupid. great way to get killed very quickly by the predator specifically adapted to eat your ass.

I loved these books as a kid and watched the TV series, but I read a lot of the books out of order just because siblings or other copies at the library weren't available, but I just wanted to experience the story even disjointed and out of order. I want to read the entire series again

>Many of the novels from the #25-#52 range were written by ghostwriters. Typically, K. A. Applegate would write a detailed outline for each book, and a ghostwriter, usually one of Applegate's former editors or writing protégés, would spend a month or two writing the actual novel. After this, Applegate, and later her series editor, Tonya Alicia Martin, would edit the book to make it fit in with the series' tight continuity. Ghostwriters are credited for their help in the book's dedication page: "The author would like to thank [ghostwriter name] for his/her help in preparing this manuscript".

>The only books in this range fully written by Applegate herself after #26: The Attack, #32: The Separation, #53: The Answer, #54: The Beginning and all of the Megamorphs and Chronicles books.
it's crazy as fuck she even wrote half of them herself

Its been a looong time since I read the books.
The moment that always stands out in my memory is when they do the
>maybe our group will pick up this new member
Trope (whatever the fuck it is called fuck tvtropes)
But instead of him either joining or becoming a recurring small villain like 99% of chikdrens media, they fucking kill him for being a tard. Very based.
The series occupies a rare niche as a truly dark story for kids which makes it hard to market.

Considering there is zero chance the """director""" wont change everything to push their own personal narrative throughout, I am fine with it remaining a book series.

And you like haha turn into her in your house, just to check it ok haha, and you like undress just see haha
And you like, stand in the mirror and see yourself as Rachel haha just to check, but then your dad comes into your room haha, that would be funny haha peak comedy
And then like, it's a girl's brain haha so it's not like it's you, and the girl's brain turns on like haha you say "Get in, and close the door..."
And haha like they usually do, they let the "other" take control haha and you let the Rachel body take control haha just to see what she would do haha, and then she unzips YOUR DAD'S PANTS hahah and start fondling on his dick, that would be hi-la-rious haha

The truth is that only weird kids read the books. The covers were cool and everyone probably read one or two, but between the school library and the local library they didn't have all of them, so nobody really understood, liked, or read the whole plot.

It was about a bunch of slug aliens taking over people's bodies or some shit? And these special high school kids that got blessed by some "good" alien species can now transform into any animal they've physically touched?? And this is somehow used to fight the slugs that are piloting human bodies as meat-gundams?

the yeerk leader infested marco's mom, like since before the animorphs formed.
all the kids develop severe ptsd over the course of the series.
there is a full scale invasion.
rachel dies kamikazeing a spaceship to win because her ptsd made her full berserk.
the yeerk-infested centipede aliens just want to die because the yeerks promised to end their eternal hunger but didn't and now they're mind slaves and eternally starving.
the yeerk-infested blade aliens just want to die because they're naturally vegetarian hippies.
there's a good ancient alien android on earth that could mow down the yeerk empire in a day but doesn't want to because his memory is formatted in a way that would cause him to live the carnage he caused in real time for the rest of his operation.
a mean kid gets the animorph power and they have to trap him on a deserted island as a rat or some shit.
the entire yeerk-andalite-human war is simply a game between two near-omnipotent beings who got tired of blowing up galaxies to fight each other, the animorphs become aware of this and can do nothing but keep fighting gruesome battles.

Plus, the humans didn't have a reliable way to identify who was brain slugged and who wasn't.
You can't reasonably disguise yourself as someone if that someone might be a covert brain slug. Already having the intel, logistics, and Film Actors Guild skills to pull off a disguise of a disguise negates the reason for doing so.
