I always thought Mike had a better screen presence, but still it was Hoelโ€™s fucking show. He created it and built the original puppets himself. Mike just stole his gig.

It's kind of a silly debate. They both have some 10/10 episodes and have their own comedy style.

I'd say an easier better than is Trace vs Bill. Trace was so much funnier and more important to the show it's not even close.

Kevin is obviously way better than Josh, but going back and watching some old S1 episodes Josh was incredibly talented for being like fucking 18 years old. Unreal

Mike was the head writer most if not for the entire time, mstiebro.

I'll grant you that. Daddy-O is a good Joel episode to use in the vein.

Love Daddy-O. Bizarre to think that was John Williams first soundtrack.

10/10 Joel would be "The girl in lovers lane" Endlessly rewatchable and Joel was kind of on his way out so he didn't give a fuck and was at his funniest.

Dream team is early Mike, Kevin and Trace in "Beginning of the End" for my money it's the funniest and I always find myself coming back to it.

>Love Daddy-O.
Same. I like their choice to color the entire film a slight blue hue, too.

>Bizarre to think that was John Williams first soundtrack.

Yeah. I mean, JAWS and STAR WARS and pretty far apart in my brain storage from the MST3K department for sure.

>Dream team is early Mike, Kevin and Trace in "Beginning of the End" for my money it's the funniest and I always find myself coming back to it.

Mike didnโ€™t join the writing staff until 1992. It was Joelโ€™s show until they forced him out. I liked Mike better because he was funnier and wittier but it is what it is.

A bunch of giant grasshoppers attack Illinois, Trace does his spot on Peter Graves impression, and it's Bert I. Gordon. Feels like the first Mike episode where he really felt comfortable in the theater instead of just the writers room

Man, that's a tough one, but I'd like for them to do some decent films too that are nonetheless ripe for a good riffing, like Clash of the Titans (1981) and Battlestar Galactica (1978 film).

Joel and later Trace had disagreements with co-creator Jim Mallon. It took Joel 20 years to get the right to make another season of the show he created.
Kind of a John Fogerty thing.

Hopefully. Just sad everyone is like 65 years old now. I like "the mads are back" but they barely pull a few thousand views.

Rifftrax could do it but I just can't help thinking it would have been better in the prime years of the cast. I'd go to a rifftrax live for that.

For some reason Joel-and I do respect him-thinks it's a big deal that he was on a satellite of love while Mike was on a space ship basically. *shrug*
But you know, the way his humor is and given how high his IQ probably has to be, he could also be joking, hard to tell. I lean towards him not being truly peeved, but he does remind you that he created it all. Saw him in Seattle and they played that British superhero movie. I nearly bust a bust laughing. He was ON.
Some lowlife puke stole my poster from under my seat too. Don't store stuff under your seat!

Joel and Mike from what I've read have never had bad blood. Joel helped hire Mike from the TGIF because he thought he was funny and then Mike became head writer. When is was time for Joel to leave he hand-picked Mike as his successor because he thought he was funny and had a handsome screen presence next to the bots.

Last original thing I saw Joel in was this outer space show with the Indian guy from community and the big titty jewess from the ATT commercials. It wasn't that bad. I think it was on that yahoo streaming platform that didn't even last a few years so good luck. Joel was like the hippy engineer and I think Trace even guest starred as a robot
