I rewatched the ending of the first one and counted; M3gan grips Cady by the head for 18 consecutive seconds, an extremely long time as it unfolds, while Gemma is incapacitated but never actually harms her. It makes me wonder how much of that was suspense filmmaking bullshit and how much of it was that even during the angriest most betrayed moment of her life she still couldn't actually bring herself to hurt Cady.

I finally saw the first one last night. It was fine. The production quality was pretty high and I like that it didn't really waste any time. She went from self learning to killbot pretty fast and people around her recognized quicker than most movies would. The final battle was solid as well.
