This is one of those movies where the premise is the most interesting part of the entire movie. It isnt a great movie. It's poorly paced, the acting is real sketchy in places, the fight scenes is pretty underwhelming even for the time, the music is wallpaper except the opening theme, the dialoge is stiff (besides a few memorable lines), there isnt much interesting character dynamics within the group and you barely get to know any of them.

Yet the premise is what carries this movie. The idea of gangs in new york anno 1975 having evolved into tribalism in almost a literal sense and a small gang have to go on an odyssean (dont know if thats a word) journey through new york in the dead of night while everyone is out to get them.

Dont get me wrong, I really like this movie, but I always feel they could have done so much more with it than what was made. This movie is kinda Mad Max 1 if Mad Max 2 was never made, if that makes any sense.
