In The Expanse(decent watch btw) this character, who survives in the books, was killed off because the actor was found out to be a sex pest. The problem however, is that the character was a good guy and they killed him very unceremoniously off screen, something that never would have happened if his death was planned for story reasons.

Other examples of this happening? Where the fictional character is punished because of real life reasons. Not just casting changes or deaths, but outright malicious writing like this.

>very unceremoniously off screen
It was on screen, and something CONSTANTLY talked about as a hazard throughout the entire series. They were worried the whole time saving Avasarala that she'd stroke out. It's not some random made-up death no one else suffers. He takes Fred Johnson's death in the books. Fred dies in that exact way. If it wasn't Alex, not a single person would have been shown to stroke out in the show.
>who survives in the books
I liked Alex, but let's be honest here: he doesn't do anything else noteworthy. He flies that ship and whines about the family relationship he fucked up.

Elongated Man from The Flash. Fairly popular character, there were even talks about giving him and his spy girlfriend a spinoff. Then the actor got cancelled for edgy tweets and they wrote him out in-between seasons.

In his last appearance they even said he got splashed with acid (off-screen) and had to wear a Daft Punk helmet until he healed. Producers said they would recast since the character could shapeshift, but ultimately just wrote him and his girlfriend out entirely as having moved away to start their own detective agency, and only brought her back a couple of times while he was always busy with other cases.

>Hill saw Thomas G. Waites as the next James Dean, and the director "invited the young actor to the Gulf and Western to watch movies like Rebel Without a Cause and East of Eden for inspiration." During the screening, Hill offered Waites a drink, which Waites refused, resulting in a rift between the two that grew worse during the grueling summer shoot. At one point, Waites threatened to report the working conditions to the Screen Actors Guild, forcing Paramount to provide a second trailer for the eight Warriors to share.

Finally eight weeks into principal photography, when the tension on set between Waites and Hill reached the breaking point, Hill demanded that stunt coordinator Craig Baxley improvise a stunt scene in which Waites' character would be killed. "Stunned, Baxley demurred. Such a critical scene would take careful planning. But Hill was insistent. 'I don't give a shit how you kill him,' Baxley recalls the director saying. 'Kill him.'" Baxley found a crew member who resembled Waites and staged a scene in which the character is thrown off a subway platform in front of an approaching train. "It was like someone cut my soul out and left a shell", Waites remembers. He would later demand that his name be removed from the cast altogether; he remains uncredited to this day. Both Waites and Hill have expressed regret over how the situation was handled and since made up.

They showed his body if that's what you mean but the death itself was off screen. The cause of his death was fine, although it would have made more sense for someone who isn't a seasoned pilot. But how it was handled, visually, musically, the other characters reactions, all of it was a fuck you to the actor and would have been handled differently if his death was planned for story reasons and not irl reasons. Everything you are saying is basically true but a complaint for the books as well. I'm here to laugh and filmmakers being petty cunts.

The Chef VA was a scientologist who got mad when South Park did a scientology episode.
He left the show over it, so Matt and Trey did an episode where they bring Chef back one last time using only canned voice lines from previous episodes strung together.
In the episode Chef is brainwashed by the Super Adventure Club into a pedophile. The boys undo his brainwashing but at the last moment Chef decides to go back to the Super Adventure Club. At which point he gets eaten by a mountain lion.

I forgot to mention, killed off because he was very difficult to work with and they grew tired of him. He also got recast in Hannibal between seasons for a similar reason, luckily his character had been severely mutilated in his last appearance so it wasn't as jarring since the character was all makeup anyway.

Then it turned out, she had even WORSE tweets than the guy who played Ralph but by that point she has successfully bullied the writers into making her the star of the show and nearly every plot revolving around her
