>>211992200Don't go in expecting a standard Bond movie, because the whole thing is a complete trainwreck, but despite that I still love it. It had production difficulties on a complete other level.
Peter Sellers is the star of the movie, but he got fired halfway into production for refusing to take direction. So they had to completely rewrite the story, and brought in David Niven to be the new star. They also had the bizarre idea to bring in a whole bunch of different prominent directors to shoot one major sequence each. You wind up with the main story from Casino Royale about a Baccarat tournament to ruin Lechifre and get him to become a double agent where Sellers is Bond in that sequence. But then you also have another story where Niven is "the original James Bond" who is brought out of retirement to take over British intelligence and stop a secret society that is killing the world's spies through honeypot schemes. But these two characters never interact, and instead the Niven character recruits Vesper Lynd (played by Ursula Andress) who knits together both sides of the story.

Before watching it I recommend reading the plot summary on wikipedia, because the editing can kind of confuse the plot at times.
